The Weston A. Price Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to restoring nutrient-dense foods to the human diet through education, research and activism, has elected Leslie Manookian to join the Board of Directors, effective October 15.
Manookian was a successful Wall Street business executive and is now a documentary film producer and activist. Her award winning film, “The Greater Good” was the result of eleven years of research. Manookian holds an MBA from the University of Chicago and a BA from Middlebury College.
Concurrently, Geoffrey Morell, ND, JP, a board member and secretary, is stepping down from his position. Morell was a founding member of the board. In this capacity he contributed much support and advice to the Foundation over the years. At 89 years old Morell’s decision was based on his desire to make way for a younger generation of board members.
In addition, existing board members Kim Schuette, CN, Cert. GAPS Practitioner, and Sarah Pope, MGA, will assume new Foundation responsibilities. Schuette will become the board’s next vice president. She has been in private practice in the field of nutrition since 1999. In 2002 she established Biodynamic Wellness where she and her staff specialize in nutritional and biotherapeutic drainage therapies. Pope will become secretary. She has been the Weston A. Price Chapter Leader for Tampa/St. Petersburg, Florida since 2002. In addition to those duties, Pope writes, “The Healthy Home Economist” blog. In 2011 Pope developed the twelve-part, “Wise Traditions Beginner Video Series,” for the Foundation’s website and YouTube channel.
The Board will convene on November 14 in Anaheim, California to approve these changes. The meeting coincides with the Foundation’s 16th Annual Wise Traditions Conference, which will feature more than forty speakers in the field of nutrition and natural health. Lectures range from scientific discussions of the latest nutrition research to practical classes in food preparation and gardening.
“With these changes to our Board the Weston A. Price Foundation is poised for renewed dedication to its mission of education, research and activism,“ said Sally Fallon Morell, MA, founding president of the Weston A. Price Foundation. “;After fifteen years of providing accurate information about nutrition, and with growing influence on the natural health movement, we are proud of the leading role we have taken in the return to grass-based agriculture, the acceptance of nutrient-dense foods like butter, egg yolks, organ meats and raw milk, and in the growing appreciation of foods cooked at home using real food ingredients.”;
