FAMILY FARM FESTIVAL POSTPONED
The Family Farm Festival, originally scheduled to take place Sunday, September 12, has been postponed till 2005. The festival will now take place the following year on Sunday, September 11 from 11am-6pm.
Over 1,000 people came to Epworth Camp in High Falls last September to enjoy meeting local farmers and craftspeople, attend the workshops, and eat locally-prepared grass fed meats. Organizers Jen Prosser and Dina Falconi were amazed at the enthusiasm generated by the festival. "We are all disappointed the festival will not take place this year," said Jen Prosser, "but the additional time to prepare will make next year’s festival even better, with more farmers and a Real Milk Roundtable."
The Celebrity Chef Competition was a huge success last year, with tasting tickets selling out just an hour after the festival opened. Chefs who signed on this year included Ric Orlando from New World Home Cooking, John Novi from the Depuy Canal House, Mark Slutzky from Hickory BBQ Smokehouse, Josh Kroner from Terrapin, and a Chef Challenging Duo from the Culinary Institute of America. Organizers expect a full lineup of popular local chefs for next year’s tasting extravaganza.
Festival organizers are still looking for farmers, vendors and sponsors for next year’s event. Information about the festival can be obtained at the festival website: www.sunstoneherbs.com/festival or by contacting one of the organizers. Jen Prosser can be reached at (845) 657-6059 and Dina Falconi at (845) 687-8938. Did you enjoy this article?
