A new bill, H.B. 1638, would eliminate personal belief/philosophical exemption to the MMR vaccine (Measles, Mumps, Rubella.)
If passed, no child would be allowed to attend daycare or school without MMR vaccination (or proof of immunity), unless they have a religious or medical exemption.
Currently Washington State allows for philosophical exemption to all other required vaccines.
MMR vaccination can carry life-threatening side effects. There have been more than 89,000 adverse reactions and 444 deaths, reported to the Vaccine Adverse Events Reporting System (VAERS) related to the MMR vaccine – and it is estimated by the government that only 1% of all reactions are ever reported!
Parents must be able to choose whether or not they want to vaccinate their children with this potentially dangerous vaccine.

1) As of March 31, 2018, there were more than 89,355 reports of measles vaccine reactions, hospitalizations, injuries and deaths following measles vaccinations made to the federal Vaccine Adverse Events Reporting System (VAERS), including 445 related deaths, 6,196 hospitalizations, and 1,657 related disabilities. Over 60% of those adverse events occurred in children three years old and under.

7) One of the most basic human rights is that of bodily autonomy—as supported by the Nuremburg Code. When there is risk, there must be choice. We must remember that ethical medicine requires prior, completely voluntary and fully informed consent, yet there continues to be a concerted effort to deny our freedoms, while pushing a one-size-fits-all vaccine agenda.
8) The US Supreme Court recognizes vaccines to be “unavoidably unsafe” and to cause injury and death in some recipients. Over $4 billion has been paid out in vaccine injury compensation, yet the government estimates less than 1 percent of all vaccine injury is ever reported to the Vaccine Adverse Events Reporting System (VAERS.)
9) Vaccine makers and the healthcare providers who administer them bear zero liability for vaccine injuries and deaths. The vaccine manufactures reap all the profits from vaccines, without having to pay for any of the injuries or harm.

I support this bill. You still can choose to not vaccinate your child. But unvaccinated children pose a threat to other kids, including ones that are too young to be vaccinated. They should NOT be allowed to attend public school. Home school them if you don’t want to vaccinate.
That is an illogical argument. First, any live-virus vaccine can be shed for up to a month and in some cases years. There have been cases of people shedding the vaccine-strain virus thirty years later. Those that are vaccinated can then be silent carriers and therefore pose more of a threat. Second, the small children and babies you are seeking to protect aren’t in elementary school so there is no risk of exposure via that forum. Third, are you aware of the peer-reviewed studies that a small percentage of the population (8-22% I believe) are what’s called “non-responders,” meaning they don’t produce an antibody response to vaccination. This cannot be predicted or determined without specific titter tests. Fifth, it’s also well known that it cannot be predicted how long, so-called immunity (aka antibody response) lasts in any individual. Testing is starting to reveal that antibodies in many cases are no longer present 5-7 years later. Hence the ongoing outbreaks and moving target of official percentage of the population that needs to be vaccined for the herd immunity theory, which has itself been scrutinized and questioned.
It sounds like you have not done your research, despite advocating for removing someone else’s basic human right to informed concent. I encourage you to do your own research and verify everything I’ve said, as those of us that are making informed and alternative choices from you have done.
You have also over-simplified the situation by assuming that all families can and/or want to homeschool. That is not an option for most families. That would mean those people either vaccinate their children against their will, move out of State or lose their livelihood.
Vaccinating with live viruses also poses a risk to those unable or too young to be vaccinated. In fact, we don’t even know if this measles “outbreak” was caused by the vaccine strain.

So all vaccinated children should be kept away from the “public” until the threat of infection has passed which currently is recommended 28 days after vaccination.
Vaccination rates are well above “herd immunity” standards currently and there is no need for this mandate.
It has been established that the Clark County measles outbreak was caused by a wild type virus from Eastern Europe.
Measles vaccine can cause a vaccine-induced infection, that is milder than a wild type infection. However, it does not shed or spread to others. Varicella or chicken pox however, can cause shedding, and therefore is not recommended to be given to people with immune compromise, or household members.
“Herd immunity standards” for measles is 95%, and Washington state is nowhere near this level; I believe Clark County was at 75% and they have had 70 cases, including one person hospitalized.
People are infectious for up to 4 days before they show symptoms, so keeping people away is not a great strategy. And when people do become ill, they go to public clinics and hospitals, and expose others.
If your vaccines work then why unvaccinated are a risk?
I support this bill. It is a luxury to be so I’ll informed about vaccines because of herd immunity. I don’t want to see the day when kids have to die for everyone to admit to themselves that the debunked studies against vaccines are worthless. I hope this bill passes.
Herd immunity is ONLY possible when a population has contracted a disease (typically the entire cohort or generation). The reason we have herd still have some herd immunity to measles is because the majority of the living adult population had the disease as children. Vaccination with live virus and our open border policies reflect more on the recent outbreaks than do healthy unvaccinated kids in fairly isolated populations in some parts of the country. We are currently dealing with younger generations of mothers who were vaccinated themselves and cannot pass on antibody to their babies the way a mother who had the disease as a child could. In this case, the child would contract the disease upon exposure and would have a very mild infection (thanks to passive immunity from mom) and would then build lifelong immunity himself…herd immunity. Vaccination does not provide this at all. We are witnessing mass hysteria as a result of very poor understanding of biology and very low information from authority.

Marion, I’m certainly not ill informed….and there is no such thing as herd immunity. It is an unproven myth that the med. community and media spread to coerce people into vaccinating. It can’t be proven and has never been proven. You should never give your support to a cause that you don’t really understand. This is taking away a parent’s right to make medical decisions for their child. There are thousands injured or killed by vaccines every year. There are people who have genetic predispositions to being harmed by vaccines. Nobody should ever be able to dictate somebody being forced to inject a medical product that is not properly researched and carries a risk of injury or death. I suggest you do your homework and learn the real facts about vaccination and the risks associated.
Not one vaccine fits everyone there’s so many other factors involved that you can’t make it mandatory for parents to lose the right for their health of their children
Under no circumstances should anyone’s health choices be taken away from them. If you allow one thing to be mandated others will follow. Scare tactics re used daily to force the population to do as the government once nd when has the government looked out for the people without money involved? Next they will be mandating tracking implants and potential carriers of a certain genes to be denied medical care, the right to have children, the right to live. Allow one part of your body to be controlled and you will soon be denied any rights to your own body.
Each person has their own philosophical view of the best medical care. Some prefer naturopaths, a holistic approach, and boosting the immune system as the natural way to strengthen the body. Traditional treatments from herbs and healthy foods are favored by many. This bill comes in conjunction with HB 1497, Foundational Public Health, according to the state dept. of health. Further eroding personal medical choice and consent, this bill sets the stage for the state to decide what kind of care/medicine/vaccines residents should have based on the philosophy of the state. The Clark County WA Public Health Director dismisses the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting system, (VAERS) database and has no links to it at the county website, and claims the MMR vaccine is incredibly safe.
Oppose this bill 1638! There are zero safety studies that prove the vaccine ingredients are safe for human injection. I work in vaccine injury, and see how children’s lives are stripped away because no one is doing studies showing they are safe with zero side effects. Use your moral compass and prove thwy are safe before forcing these issues.
I support this bill. You don’t want to vaccinate? Then home school and isolate your children. Period.
Tammy if life is too risky for you or yours to be around others who may be walking vectors or disease, perhaps YOU are the one who should be staying home. Believe me, measles is the least of your worries based on that logic.

There have only been two deaths related to the measles in the US over the past 20 years even with the multiple outbreaks and pockets of unvaccinated population. Please explain to me how the disease is so deadly? There have been 400+ documented deaths due to the MMR vaccine alone. What’s the logic behind the push? Who’s paying for the lobbying? Who stands to gain?
