As summer comes to a close, we are providing this long-overdue Information Alert about important happenings at the Weston A. Price Foundation.
NEW DATABASE
After using our original, primitive database-affectionately referred to as “The Beast”–since the founding of the Weston A. Price Foundation, we have finally made the switch to a new, more powerful database. We made the difficult transition during the relatively quiet month of August and things are now running smoothly. The new database allows us to send targeted emails to members in one or more states and countries, or residing within a range of zip codes and also to send out renewal notices by email. In a few weeks, you will be able to sign up for membership, renew and order materials online. We are grateful for several large grants and the generosity of our members at large, which have allowed us to make this important change.
OFFICE HOURS AND PHONE CALLS
If we missed responding to your phone call during the month of August, our apologies! During the transition to the new database, we did get behind. Our office hours are Monday through Thursday, 10 am through 4 pm. The office phone is (202) 363-4394. If we don’t answer, leave a message or email us at info@westonaprice.org. However, for ALL calls regarding the conference, including registration, exhibiting, ride and room share, please call (240) 379-7072.
STAFF CHANGES
Bill Sanda has re-opened his consulting practice and will no longer be serving as Executive Director of the Foundation. We wish him the very best in this change of direction and thank him for his many contributions over the past few years. Our office staff will continue to manage the day-to-day office operations.
CONFERENCE
We are expecting our best conference ever November 10-12 at the Westfields Marriott Hotel, Chantilly, Virginia, near Dulles Airport. Full conference fees remain the same as last year BUT ONLY IF YOU REGISTER BEFORE SEPTEMBER 15. You can register online at http://www.westonaprice.org/conference/2006/index.html. If you are staying at the hotel, please book early by calling (800) 635-5666 and requesting our special conference room rate of $142 (which remains the same for double, triple and even quadruple occupancy). We are expecting a big turnout and planning wonderful meals!
CONTINUING EDUCATION UNITS
Again this year, The Weston A. Price Foundation will offer continuing education units for health professionals. In addition, this year we are offering CEUs for agriculturalists. Professions that have already granted approval for the conference include Chiropractors, National Association of Nutrition Professionals, Registered Dietitians, Acupuncturists and Agriculturalists. Applications are under way for other health professionals, so please refer to our website often for updates.
POSTER DISPLAYS
This year for the first time, health professionals are invited to submit an abstract for a poster presentation at the conference. The posters will be displayed in a specially designated area for all attendees to review. Abstracts selected to be poster presentations at the conference will demonstrate the integration of practice, education and scholarship. Specific topics include, but are not limited to, incorporating nutrition into your practice, results of nutritional interventions with a specific patient population, and patient teaching projects involving nutrition. All posters much represent your original work. Abstracts are due Friday, October 13, 2006. Please refer to the website for application form at http://www.westonaprice.org/conference/2006/abstracts.html.
REAL MILK CAMPAIGN
Thank you to those who have contributed to A Campaign for Real Milk. Many of you have been very generous and your donations are being used to support legal actions in Ohio, Maryland, Wisconsin and other states. We have also received many wonderful testimonials and letters of support. If you have not already responded to our letter of appeal, please consider a gift as a way to start off the fall season.
