VDACS is (apparently) telling legislators on the subcommittee that Del. Rob Wittman’s bill, HB1990 will destroy Virginia agriculture, and the legislators are believing this. We face the possibility of the bill being amended to give VDACS what they want and our losing everything we have worked for.
CALL THE SUBCOMMITTEE MEMBERS BELOW IMMEDIATELY
They are the members who support us the most.
ACTIONS
1. Call the members of the House Ag. Sub-Committee below to SUPPORT anti-NAIS bill HB1990 with language to specifically PROHIBIT MANDATORY ANIMAL ID, in those words.
2. Come to Richmond to the public hearing on the bill, Tuesday, Jan. 23, at 3:00, and speak (or just come). (Hearing begins at 3:00, sludge bill goes first, followed by the anti-NAIS bill). Sign-up for speaking begins at 2:00.

TEXT of HB1990
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That the Code of Virginia is amended by adding a section numbered
3.1-14.4 as follows:
§ 3.1-14.4. National Animal Identification System.
“The Commissioner of Agriculture and Consumer Services shall ensure that the Department does not participate in or provide any assistance to the establishment of the National Animal Identification System or any substantially similar program.”
