Most mornings, my husband fixes us all a nourishing breakfast of eggs and bacon, but sometimes I am just not in the mood. However, skipping breakfast is simply not my style. After an early morning workout, but before I’m ready to delve into a day of homeschooling the kiddos, I need something warm and nutritious in my belly. This delicious recipe I created is based off of the ever-so-popular Bulletproof Coffee, but with a few added tweaks. It is delicious, nutritious, fast and fun to drink!

“The only coffee substitute that features the smoothness and texture of real coffee.” (from the website). But does it have the flavor of coffee?
Dandelion root, sugar beet, chicory, barley and rye.
Roasted, steeped in water, and sold as an extract.

The taste is definitely not the same as coffee, but it does share some of the same characteristics and has a very deep, rich flavor. I like to mix it in a food processor with coconut oil, ghee, yacon syrup or monk fruit, hydrolyzed gelatin, cinnamon, maca powder, Celtic Sea Salt, and ground vanilla beans, making a paste that I store in an airtight jar. I then mix 1-2 Tbsp.with hot water, adding fresh cream as desired. This is a very satisfying, delicious treat to be enjoyed every day!
Thanks! This looks great! So the egg yolk does not cook? You don’t need to take special care with it?
Hi Molly, the main thing here is to take special care *where* your egg yolk comes from! A clean, disease-free pastured flock produces generally safe eggs. If you are concerned at all you may soft-boil the eggs, and then use the soft yolk in the blend.
Hi! Thanks for this recipe!! What brand of gelatin do you use? I wonder if collagen could be a sub for the gelatin?
