The California legislature is considering a bill that would urge social media companies to censor their users.
While this resolution may contain some good suggestions, ACR 219 would give social media companies a free pass to censor anyone who voices their opposition or concerns regarding vaccination or vaccine policies.
During the Covid-19 pandemic, social media companies censored users for posting “harmful and dangerous content” with a bias that favored vaccines, despite reports of adverse reactions and even deaths following vaccination.
Although ACR 219 is not legally binding, it strongly encourages social media companies to repeat the same free speech violations that occurred during the pandemic.
For instance, in March 2020, Twitter implemented a Covid-19 “misinformation” policy that added labels and warning messages to posts about Covid-19 and vaccines that did not align with government guidelines. This policy resulted in countless user suspensions, with some users facing permanent bans.

Sample script:
“Hi, my name is ____, and I am a constituent. I am calling today to express my strong opposition to ACR 219, which is scheduled for an informal hearing on August 7, 2024.
While ACR 219 is not binding, it heavily encourages social media companies to repeat the same violations of free speech that occurred during the pandemic against those who voice opposition to or concerns about vaccination or vaccine policies.
It is crucial to recognize that vaccines, like all pharmaceutical products, can cause injury and even death. As of July 1, 2024, the United States Government has paid out more than $5.22 billion to vaccine victims through the National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program. Additionally, as of June 28, 2024, 48,101 deaths and 2,614,501 adverse events were reported to the Vaccine Adverse Events Reporting System.
I urge you to vote against ACR 219 to protect our constitutional right to free speech.”
Be sure to explain why this issue is important to you. You may wish to use a couple of the talking points below. Don’t copy all of them – just use them as ideas to help structure your own message.
TALKING POINTS for calls and emails:
- In 2023, Mark Zuckerberg admitted that Facebook often flagged and suspended users based on “misinformation” requests from the establishment, which later turned out to be true.
- In March of 2020, global social media platform Twitter implemented a Covid-19 “misinformation” policy that would add labels and warning messages on information about Covid-19 and Covid injections that did not align with government policy. This led to countless users being suspended and some being placed into a “lifetime ban” category.
- The truth about Covid-19 censorship continues to emerge, with several lawsuits already filed against government agencies and social media companies. For example, the lawsuit Missouri v. Biden aimed to expose the coordinated efforts of Big Tech and government officials to censor information related to Covid-19, Covid countermeasures, and election integrity, violating the First Amendment before being denied standing. This lawsuit named sixty-seven (67) U.S. federal government agencies and officials, including senior officials in the White House, for allegedly engaging in a widespread campaign of pressuring and colluding with social media platforms to censor users in violation of the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.
