We encourage you to join our allies at the Farm and Ranch Freedom Alliance for their Local Foods Lobby Days at the Austin Capitol on February 12, March 4, April 1, and May 6!
FARFA is an advocacy organization for small farmers and local food producers that punches way above its weight, with 13 bipartisan bills passed through the Texas legislature (in addition to its federal work).
As a spokesperson for small farmers, FARFA is up against big corporations that send armies of lobbyists to push their agendas. One of the keys to its success is activists like YOU – farmers, ranchers, and consumers who speak up.
Legislators need to hear your stories, your challenges, and your solutions. Your voice makes a difference.
Here’s what FARFA is advocating for this session:
- Simplifying farmers market permits so selling your products is easier.
- Expanding cottage food laws to grow home-based businesses.
- Reforming raw milk and ungraded egg sales for more market access.
- Supporting farm-to-school programs to get local food in Texas schools.
- Clarifying property tax laws for fair treatment of small producers.
The more of us who show up, the louder our message will be. Together, we can push back against big corporate influence and build a system that truly supports small-scale farming.
