Was any other brand of emu oil tested, such as MPB Research’s pharmaceutical grade pure Australian (wild range fed and low temperature processed) emu oil? I am currently taking the MPB Research’s emu oil along with the Walkabout brand. I am really curious because they are so different from each other. The MPB is viscous and can be taken internally as well as used externally. The Walkabout is much more oily and they sell different products for internal and external use. Internal use of both brands help me with lessening the inflammation in my IT Band, but I would love to know the MK-4 amount in each for comparison. Can you help?

Walkabout emu oil has been tested many times for vitamin K2 MK-4, the low average is 4,000 ng/g. please look at this blog for further information https://walkabouthealthproducts.com/emu-oil-dr-weston-price-activator-x/
Two of the more prominent brands of emu oil were tested for VK2 MK-4 and the results came back as “zero”. Shows that genetics, husbandry, feed and traditional processing method makes a tremendous difference in the quality of the oil.
Natural fats that haven’t been denatured will separate when they have been sitting for a while, more of a clear oil on top and an opaque fat below. Walkabout emu oil must be shaken before use. It truly is a synergy and all parts must be present to get the benefits.
American emu oil producers went to the American Chemists society to learn how to process their oils and they go through winterization, bleaching, sterilization, etc. This makes the oil white in appearance with no separation. That’s not natural and I would not ingest it- it is a processed fat and those are not healthy for us.

I am in the process of switching from butter to ghee and, in addition to the test results for emu oil, I found both the article and the test results to be very interesting — thank you!

Thank you very much for publishing the results.

I notice how butter oil has 4x more K2 in the test from october compared to the test from march.

This would be as a result of the animals having spent months consuming fresh green grasses and herbs, as opposed to the spring time diet which would be coming from a winter of dry forage. Rapidly growing green grass is key here, but the diet preceding this will have an affect on the nutrients.

Is emu oil okay during pregnancy? Webmd says no but I’m not following that. I’ve been doing everything else but wanted to know if butter oil or emu oil was better
Kelsey says
It’s important to remember that emu oil is a good. It is a fat coming from an animal. Knowing what is “safe” during pregnancy is important when it comes to medications and synthetic supplements, but with foods, it has to just be up to you what you want to eat.
Kelsey says
Food* it’s also good haha, but it is a food.

On some old interviews and articles bear fat was mentioned as being very high in vitamin K and that tests would be done. Where there ever any results from this?

Hello, I was trying to access the links to the Test Results on Vitamin K, especially for Green Pastures Butter Oil but the link won’t open? Can you repost? I’m pregnant so wanted to check on the levels I’m getting. Thanks so much! – Sheri

It doesn’t seem to work in google chrome for some reason. Try it in Microsoft Edge, or some other browser. If that doesn’t work, you may have to mess around with some of the browser settings. The documents are word documents, but they should have been uploaded as PDF’s or images.

Now in July 2023, none of the links posted above can be opened.

Can you tell me the difference between vitamin K-2, MK-4 vs. vitamin K-2, MK-7.
I just read the piece about Weston Price’s X-factor and have ordered the Vitamin A/Butter Oil from Green Pasture.
Thank you.

I am not sure I understand how to translate the ng/g to a serving. Can someone help? 1 serving of butter oil is 1/2 tsp according to the label. So if the testing showed 771,77 ng/g of Menaquinone-4 then do I convert that to mcg? If so then that would equal 77.177 mcg. So does that mean that 1/2 tsp of butter oil contains 77.177 mcg of Menaquinone-4?
